Wittgenstein and First Person Philosophy |
Up to NowSo far, I have focused on the later Wittgenstein's texts (Philosophical Investigations) under the theme “Wittgenstein and Self-Clarification”. I have examined the interpretations Wittgenstein's philosophy as “therapy”, and have shown that, whereas it has often been thought that a philosophical view of language should be dismissed, in fact, what should really be dismissed is the way in which a certain view of language is treated negatively. Wittgenstein's text does not force us, the readers, to abandon our philosophical view of language. On the contrary, it provides us with a model for dealing with language in a reflective manner.
From Now onI will expand the scope of my research from the later Wittgenstein to his philosophy as a whole. Along with this, I envision launching a “first-person philosophy”. What is a "first-person philosophy"? It is a philosophy dealing firstly with what kind of subjects there are, secondly, with how each subject works, thirdly, with what the subject suffers from, and lastly, with what the subject actively/willingly undertakes. This "first-person philosophy" is primarily concerned with the meaning of words, but it is also a highly applicable system of thought that gives us a clearer view of how the different positions relate to each other.

Common Sense and Pluralistic Certainties |
Up to NowI have relied on the latest Wittgenstein's On Certainty to consider how third-person objective certainty may consist in concealing the corporeality of first-person subjective certainty. How is it that it is only an individual who uses language, and yet one can act as if he/she represents society in a way he/she speak common sense? This is my fundamental question.
From Now onI will continue with my inquiry of exposing identities of third-person objective certainty. Specifically, I will focus on words “justification”, “objectivity”, and “natural”, which are often used in impersonal ways, and examine what physicality is hidden in certainties of these impersonal narratives.

Wittgenstein and German Philosophical Tradition |
Up to NowI became interested in the theme of “Wittgenstein and Hegel” a few years ago after attending a workshop in the Czech Republic. This thematic setting allows us to compare the philosophers to each other in a different and novel way. I myself am still trying to figure out what to discuss and how to discuss this theme. However, I have found that this cross-disciplinary theme facilitates the formation of new connections between philosophers. In the future, I will consider what I can do as Wittgenstein scholars, with a focus on collaborative research in philosophy.
From Now onSpecifically, the two plans I am considering at the moment are as follows. First, I would like to examine Schopenhauer's influence on the early Wittgenstein and develop new way of readings for the Tractatus. Secondly, I would like to consider Wittgenstein's influence from Viennese intellectuals in the end of 19th century and offer the concepts of "Psychology" “Intentionality” and "Gestalt" as comparisons for discussing the latest Wittgenstein.
